Painting
Spray painting is a common surface finish process, which is usually used to improve the appearance or provide a protective layer for the part. By spraying paint or coating on the surface of the part in the form of mist, a uniform paint film is formed.
The spray painting process usually includes the following steps:
- Surface preparation of the product (rust removal, degreasing, etc.)
- Wash the surface and dry it naturally
- Spray primer: Primer is the first layer in the spray painting process, which is usually used to improve the adhesion of the coating and fill the unevenness of the surface. The primer coating usually needs to be polished to make the surface smoother.
- Spray topcoat: Topcoat is the last layer of paint that gives the object the desired color and improves the durability of the surface. Topcoat is generally sprayed in one or two layers to ensure that the coating is even and flat.
- Mask off areas that should not be painted using painter's tape and protective coverings.
- Conduct a test spray on a small, inconspicuous area to ensure compatibility between the paint and the surface.
- A well-prepared surface ensures better paint adhesion and a smoother finish.
