C'est la contrainte \u00e0 laquelle un mat\u00e9riau commence \u00e0 pr\u00e9senter une d\u00e9formation plastique (non r\u00e9versible). Lors d'un essai de traction, qui consiste \u00e0 soumettre un \u00e9chantillon de mat\u00e9riau \u00e0 des forces de traction axiales jusqu'\u00e0 la rupture, la limite d'\u00e9lasticit\u00e9 est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement identifi\u00e9e sur la courbe contrainte-d\u00e9formation. Lors d'un essai de r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 la compression, un \u00e9chantillon du mat\u00e9riau est soumis \u00e0 des forces de compression jusqu'\u00e0 ce qu'il c\u00e8de.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>R\u00e9sistance \u00e0 l'impact : <\/strong>La r\u00e9sistance aux chocs mesure la capacit\u00e9 d'un mat\u00e9riau \u00e0 r\u00e9sister \u00e0 des charges soudaines ou dynamiques sans se fracturer ou se rompre.
